Information

Did you know wallabies and pademelons are just 2 of the 51 species of macropods in Australia? Macropod means - big foot and these animals certainly live up to their name.

Tips to avoid colliding with pademelons and wallabies:
* Avoid driving at dawn and dusk when pademelons and wallabies are most active - but be aware they are active all times of the day and night.

* Pademelons and wallabies can't see past the light from our headlights, drop your high beams, and slow down as much as safely possible to give the animals time to move off the road.

* Slower speeds obviously give us more time to see and react to any animals that may be on the roads.

* Roads cut through the pademelon and wallabies shelter and food areas, they need to cross roads.

* Ask your passenger/s to help you look for wildlife - more eyes looking is better for everyone to safely get to their destinations. You can make a game of it too, who is the first one to spot the wildlife first? Who has the keen eyesight in your vehicle?
